Meet Michael
Born and raised in Memphis and educated at Ole Miss, I grew up believing that the best conversations happen around a table and that hospitality is measured less by perfection than by how welcome people feel.
My career took me from Atlanta to Chicago and eventually across the country as a software executive, where I discovered that every place has something to teach. Sometimes it was a memorable meal in a neighborhood café. Other times it was the craftsmanship of a mountain cabin, the quiet beauty of the San Jacinto Mountains in Palm Springs, or the rhythm of a small farming community.
Those experiences became the foundation of Porch to Palm.
Today, Porch to Palm explores the art of living well—where Southern tradition meets the West Coast. Through stories of place, thoughtful travel, timeless style, architecture, hospitality, and the meals that bring people together, I hope to inspire a life lived with intention, curiosity, and generosity.
Whether I'm preparing a recipe inspired by a journey, documenting the evolution of a piece of land beneath Mount Rainier, discovering remarkable places, or gathering friends around a table in Palm Springs, each story is another reminder that every place has something to teach—and every table has room for one more.
Friends and family have always called me Huffy—a nickname that reminds me where I come from. Here, though, I simply hope to be your host.
Welcome to Porch to Palm.
