Meet Michael

Born and raised in Memphis and educated at Ole Miss, I grew up believing that the best conversations happen around a table and that hospitality is measured less by perfection than by how welcome people feel.

My career took me from Atlanta to Chicago and eventually across the country as a software executive, where I discovered that every place has something to teach. Sometimes it was a memorable meal in a neighborhood café. Other times it was the craftsmanship of a mountain cabin, the quiet beauty of the San Jacinto Mountains in Palm Springs, or the rhythm of a small farming community.

And yes, I may consider making a series of giraffes from this fella to the right that is from a recent Safari.

Those experiences became the foundation of Porch to Palm.

Today, Porch to Palm explores the art of living well—where Southern tradition meets the West Coast. Through stories of place, thoughtful travel, timeless style, architecture, hospitality, and the meals that bring people together, I hope to inspire a life lived with intention, curiosity, and generosity.

Whether I'm preparing a recipe inspired by a journey, or making a series on canvas/prints based on Cannon Beach, which is one of my getaways with Maggie, our golden retriever. Each story is another reminder that every place has something to teach— art, nature, great food and great people.

Friends and family have always called me Huffy—a nickname that reminds me where I come from. Here, though, I simply hope to be honored for your review of my work, on the table or mounted on the wall.
